ZOO Łączna: Animals to remain under previous management
The District Prosecutor's Office in Świdnica has decided that over 700 animals from ZOO Łączna will remain under the care of the facility's existing staff rather than being transferred to other institutions. This decision follows an inspection conducted by a new investigation officer, accompanied by experts from the Council of Directors of Polish Zoos and Aquariums and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine at Nicolaus Copernicus University.
Investigators determined that the animals require immediate improvements to their living conditions due to long-standing infrastructural neglect. They concluded that only the person currently responsible for managing the entire enterprise is capable of implementing the necessary modernization works. Consequently, the prosecutor overturned previous orders that had placed the animals in the custody of the Mayor of Mieroszów.
To facilitate these improvements, the prosecutor also modified the precautionary measures against Marcin N., the former manager, to allow him direct contact with his employees. The implementation of expert recommendations will be subject to systematic monitoring, and the General Director for Environmental Protection will be informed of the findings.
