Police investigate death of woman found in Düpenau river

A 76-year-old woman from Pinneberg was found dead in the Düpenau river near Eggerstedt on Friday afternoon. A passerby discovered the body at approximately 1:45 p.m. on September 11, 2026.

The woman had been reported missing by acquaintances on Friday morning after she could no longer be reached. Although emergency services and a doctor were dispatched immediately, they could only confirm her death after she was recovered from the water.

The Pinneberg Criminal Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances that led her into the water. At this stage, authorities stated that foul play is not considered likely.
