Man confesses to killing girlfriend in Santa Catarina
A 21-year-old man, José Gustavo Rabelo, has confessed to killing his 19-year-old girlfriend, Joviana Evelyn Iankovski, in Sangão, Santa Catarina. According to police investigations, the victim was killed using a chokehold (mata-leão) following a dispute after she discovered messages on his phone involving other women.
Authorities reported that Rabelo kept the victim's body in his bedroom, wrapped in blankets, for several days before the discovery. The body was found on a Monday, three days after the crime occurred. The suspect claimed that his actions were influenced by the consumption of controlled medications and alcohol, stating he did not clearly remember the events. The victim was a student of Biological Sciences at the University of the Extreme South of Santa Catarina (Unesc).
