Cha Eun Woo allegedly targeted by illegal eavesdropping in Seoul café

A woman in her 50s is under investigation by the Seoul Yongsan Police Station for allegedly attempting to eavesdrop on singer and actor Cha Eun Woo. The suspect, identified as “A,” is accused of violating the Protection of Communications Secrets Act by installing listening devices at a café in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

According to police reports, the suspect allegedly placed two listening devices under a table on August 23. Following this, she reportedly installed three additional devices on August 29 in anticipation of the actor's return. The incident came to light on August 30 when the woman was apprehended while attempting to retrieve the devices.

The suspect, who reportedly claimed to be a fan of the artist, was initially placed under emergency arrest but was subsequently released to continue the investigation without detention. Authorities are currently conducting digital forensic examinations of her mobile phone and other devices to determine if she had accomplices or how the equipment was obtained. Police are considering whether to seek an arrest warrant upon completion of the investigation.
