Police investigate heavy equipment and scrap metal thefts in Germany

Police in Germany are investigating two separate incidents involving the theft of heavy goods.

In Krempel, witnesses prevented the theft of approximately 600 kilograms of zinc scrap. Two Bulgarian nationals, aged 39 and 53, were observed loading the scrap into a white van on a company premises. Although the men initially claimed to have authorization, police determined this was false. The suspects were taken for processing and later released, with investigations ongoing regarding attempted aggravated theft.

In Schwalmstadt, specifically in Treysa, thieves stole a 700-kilogram vibrating plate from a construction site container. The equipment is valued at approximately 10,000 EUR. Authorities believe the weight of the machine required a suitable vehicle or loading technology for transport. Additionally, an attempted break-in at a snack bar in Hessenallee resulted in roughly 500 EUR in damage to a door, though the perpetrators failed to enter the premises.
