In Chile, the Investigative Police (PDI) are investigating the death of an 84-year-old man found inside his home in Salamanca, Coquimbo Region. The victim suffered severe traumatic injuries to his skull, which authorities believe are consistent with an attack by third parties. Specialized homicide detectives from La Serena are currently collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing security camera footage to identify the perpetrators.

In Peru, two porters have died in the Cusco region amid heavy rains and snowfall on routes leading to Machu Picchu.
