Serbia investigates seven suspects linked to gas pipeline explosives

The Subotica Higher Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against seven individuals suspected of being part of an organized crime group. The group is accused of the illegal manufacture, possession, transport, and trade of weapons, explosives, and drones.

Authorities believe this group is linked to the discovery of explosives near the Serbia-Hungary gas pipeline in April. During the investigation, Serbian security agencies—including the BIA, VBA, and military police—identified that the group allegedly acquired and stored explosives and drones in Serbia before transporting them to various European Union member states.

In April, approximately four kilograms of suspected explosive material, including American-made components, were found in two backpacks near the gas infrastructure in the vicinity of Magyarkanizsa. The investigation is ongoing, with Serbian authorities cooperating with law enforcement agencies from other European countries to determine the exact roles of the suspects and the intended purpose of the seized equipment.
