Police investigate mob assaults on couples in Odisha and Bihar

Authorities in Odisha and Bihar are investigating incidents of mob violence involving young couples. In Dhenkanal, a video surfaced showing a group of people intercepting a young man and woman on a motorcycle, leading to physical assault and harassment. The victim, Arpita Mohanty, filed a complaint, and Dhenkanal SP Abhinav Sonkar confirmed that a case has been registered under various sections of the BNS and IT Act. Three individuals, identified as Saroj Nayak and Sameer Nayak, have been taken into custody.

In a separate but similar incident in Jamui, Bihar, viral footage captured a crowd surrounding and questioning a young couple. The footage shows the pair pleading with the crowd as they were subjected to verbal abuse and physical aggression. Following the circulation of these videos, the Bihar Police directed the Jamui police to take necessary action. Reports indicate that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the Jamui incident as investigations continue.
