Police investigate reports of abduction and exploitation in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh
In Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, a man has filed a police complaint alleging that his wife was forcibly abducted by her family members. The man claims that after the couple, who had been in a live-in relationship in Indore, married at a temple on Tuesday, a group of 8 to 10 individuals intercepted them at a notary office. The victim's family allegedly forced her into a vehicle and fled, while also assaulting the husband. Police are reviewing video footage of the incident and are attempting to contact the woman's family to locate her. Once found, her statement will be recorded in court to determine legal action.
In a separate incident in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, police arrested a man for allegedly exploiting a woman under the pretext of marriage. The victim reported that she met the suspect via Snapchat, after which he allegedly engaged in physical relations with her based on a promise of marriage and extorted 4.50 lakh rupees. Following the suspect's refusal to marry her, the victim filed a complaint at the Gharghoda police station. Authorities have seized an iPhone used in the case and placed the suspect under judicial remand.
