Police investigate robbery in Mechernich and burglary in Weimar

Police in Germany are investigating two separate criminal incidents occurring overnight on Friday, October 16.

In Mechernich, a masked man robbed a gambling hall on Turmhofstraße. The assailant overpowered a 42-year-old female employee, dragging her across the floor and causing injuries before demanding access to the cash register. The suspect fled with several hundred euros. Authorities have described the man as being between 1.83 and 1.87 meters tall with a thin build, wearing a black ski mask, a light gray hoodie, blue jeans, and brown shoes.

In Weimar, a fast-food restaurant on Erfurter Straße was burglarized. Perpetrators forced entry through the front door, stealing a cash register and approximately 300 euros in cash. The theft caused significant secondary damage; the broken power cable for the register resulted in a total power failure, causing refrigeration to fail and leading to the loss of various food items. Police have recovered the empty cash register near the scene and are continuing their investigation.
