Frankfurt (Oder) police investigate group attack on 14-year-old student

Police in Brandenburg are investigating a brutal attack on a 14-year-old student that occurred on October 14 in front of a school in Frankfurt (Oder). Approximately ten teenagers, aged between 13 and 15, are suspected of the assault. The group is reported to include individuals of German, Polish, Russian, and Syrian nationality. The suspects face charges of robbery and dangerous bodily harm.

Witnesses filmed the incident, which involved the victim being beaten and kicked while on the ground, and shared the video on social media. Authorities have issued a strict warning against the further distribution of the footage, noting that sharing such violent content can be a punishable offense.

Brandenburg Interior Minister Jan Redmann stated that police are engaging with the parents of the suspects to ensure accountability. Additionally, Labor Minister René Wilke suggested that legal measures, including the potential loss of residency status for those involved, should be considered. Some suspects were reportedly taken into custody during school hours at a nearby facility.
