Police investigate separate barn fires in Germany
Authorities in Germany are investigating two distinct barn fires that occurred over the weekend.
In Ostermarkelsdorf on Fehmarn, a barn caught fire on Sunday morning. The blaze destroyed a vehicle, two motorboats, a riding mower, and various pieces of agricultural equipment. The owner reported being awakened by a cracking sound coming from outside. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby residential house. The estimated damage is in the lower six-figure range, and criminal investigators have launched an inquiry into the cause.
In Emmering, a fire broke out at an old farmstead in Ober-Roggenstein late Saturday night. The building was reportedly dilapidated prior to the incident. While the fire initially appeared to be a forest fire, emergency responders discovered the agricultural property was fully engulfed. The criminal police in Fürstenfeldbruck suspect arson based on current findings. No injuries to humans or animals were reported.
