Police investigate separate child deaths in Ghana
Authorities in Ghana are investigating two separate incidents involving the deaths of young children.
In the Western North Region, a three-year-old girl was found dead at a cemetery in Sefwi Awaso. Her body was discovered with severe mutilations, including the loss of her head, both hands, and one leg. CCTV footage reportedly shows a man, identified as Sumaila, leading the child away from a house shortly before she disappeared. The Sefwi Bekwai Police have taken the suspect into custody for questioning.
In a separate incident in the Volta Region, the Volta North Regional Police Command arrested 26-year-old Robert Akator following the death of a two-year-old boy in Wli-Afegame. The arrest followed a tip-off that led to the discovery of the child's body. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the circumstances of the death, and the suspect remains in police custody.
