Police investigate separate theft and robbery incidents in Japan
Police in Japan are investigating two distinct criminal incidents involving theft and robbery.
In Sapporo, Hokkaido, a man in his 40s or 50s fled a sporting goods store after triggering a shoplifting sensor. During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly discarded a stolen jacket and brandished what appeared to be a metal weapon toward two employees. No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the matter as an after-the-fact robbery.
In Tokyo, a man is being sought for the theft of a luxury Audemars Piguet wristwatch valued at approximately 46 million yen from a shop in Nakano Broadway. The suspect allegedly requested to try on the watch before putting it on and fleeing the premises within eight minutes. This incident follows a separate major theft at the same complex in August, where watches worth 400 million yen were stolen.
