Innsbruck gun store robbery leads to arrests in Bavaria

Three suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention following a robbery at a gun store in Innsbruck, Austria. The perpetrators broke into the shop on Friday morning, October 2, 2026, smashing display cases and stealing numerous long and short firearms.

The suspects fled across the border into Germany in a vehicle with French registration. During the escape, the vehicle crashed into a hedge in Mittenwald, Bavaria, where police recovered a large quantity of long guns. The suspects then attempted to flee on foot.

Following an extensive manhunt involving the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office, specialized units, and a police helicopter, three individuals were apprehended: a 34-year-old Dutch national, a 19-year-old French national, and a 30-year-old man of unconfirmed nationality. A German court has ordered their detention as investigations continue under the direction of the Munich II Public Prosecutor's Office.
