Police investigate train incident involving mother and stroller

Police have launched a criminal investigation into an incident involving a mother and stroller on a train in the Teplice region. The investigation is being conducted under suspicion of causing bodily harm through negligence.

Czech Railways (České dráhy) reported that the incident involved an older type of carriage from the early 1990s. Unlike modern trains, these older models lack advanced safety sensors that automatically reopen doors when an obstruction is detected. Instead, they rely on visual inspections by staff before departure. The carrier noted that these specific carriages are being phased out of service.

The Railway Administration stated that such an incident should not have occurred, emphasizing that the responsibility for safe operation and passenger boarding lies entirely with the carrier. Railway staff involved in the operation underwent sobriety tests, which returned negative results. The carrier is offering assistance and compensation to the affected family.
