Valeria del Mar: Man arrested for killing partner in Argentina

Cristian Navarro, 45, has been arrested for the femicide of his partner, Aldana Novik Rojas, 38, in the coastal town of Valeria del Mar, Buenos Aires province. The victim was found dead in their shared home on Betbeder Street after being subjected to a violent physical assault that resulted in a skull fracture.

The victim's 12-year-old son discovered the body upon returning from a recreational activity. During the incident, a young daughter of the accused, who is not the victim's child and has a disability, was present in the home; she has since been placed under the protection of local social services.

Following the attack, Navarro fled the scene and reportedly inflicted non-serious knife wounds upon himself. He was located in a field after calling his mother to confess, stating, “I messed up,” and subsequently sharing his location with a friend. Authorities monitored these communications to facilitate his capture. Navarro remains in custody at a local hospital under police guard and faces charges of aggravated homicide involving gender-based violence, which carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment.

Prior to her death, Novik Rojas, a hairdresser of 20 years, had publicly shared her struggles with economic hardship and anxiety on social media while seeking employment to support her two children.
