Police investigate two separate deaths in Odisha

Authorities in Odisha are investigating two separate incidents involving deceased individuals found in different districts.

In Baleshwar district, the decomposed body of a 14-year-old girl was discovered on a roadside near the Nampo police outpost. The girl had been missing since October 16. Family members and local residents have alleged that she was abducted, gang-raped, and murdered. Police have arrested 22-year-old Chandrakant Jena in connection with the case and are conducting an investigation. Following the discovery, villagers blocked several roads to demand justice.

In Kalahandi district, the decomposed bodies of a young couple, identified as Ajit Kumar Naik and Priyadarshini Naik, were found hanging from a tree in a forest. The couple had been missing since October 17. While the scene initially suggested suicide, family members and locals have raised suspicions of murder, noting that the victims' hands appeared to be tied behind their backs and blood stains were present. Dharmagarh police have seized the bodies and initiated a detailed investigation.
