Police investigation in Croatia and murder conviction in Slovakia

In Croatia, Member of Parliament Ivana Kekin has formally requested answers from Interior Minister Davor Božinović regarding police conduct following the murder of a 35-year-old mother in Slatina. Kekin alleges that the victim called emergency services twice on the day of her death, with the first call involving shouting and profanity before being disconnected. She claims the officer on duty failed to record the call, notify superiors, or dispatch personnel, noting that the first call was only confirmed by the Ministry of the Interior a month after the incident. Kekin is seeking clarification on whether disciplinary or criminal investigations are underway for the officers involved and if protocols for handling violent domestic calls were followed.

In Slovakia, the Specialized Criminal Court in Pezinok has sentenced Ivana F. to 19 years in prison for the premeditated murder of her two daughters in the Ružinov district of Bratislava. The court found that the woman drowned both children in a bathtub before setting fire to her apartment in an attempt to make the deaths appear accidental. The court stated the act was planned to protect the children from their father. In addition to imprisonment, the defendant was ordered to undergo outpatient psychiatric treatment and was ordered to pay damages exceeding 2,000 euros to the victim's husband.
