Police kill lottery theft suspect in Itabuna, Brazil
Alexsandro Ferreira do Amor Divino, known as “Lequinho” and aged 36, was identified by police as one of the perpetrators of a R$100,000 robbery of a lottery house in Barra do Choça, Bahia, in May 2025. On Saturday, 20 May, police units carrying out search and seizure warrants in the Parque Verde neighbourhood of Itabuna confronted the suspect. He allegedly opened fire, was shot by the officers, and later died at Hospital de Base Luís Eduardo Magalhães. Police recovered a pistol, two magazines, ammunition and three tablets of marijuana. Lequinho was also under investigation for other robberies, thefts and drug‑trafficking activities in southern and southwestern Bahia. Ten days after the original theft, another suspect was arrested in Guanambi and part of the stolen cash was recovered.
