Lahore police suspects killed in encounter after fatal attacks

Two suspects, identified as father and son Fayyaz Butt and Rehan Butt, were killed during a police encounter in the Sheikhupura and Muridke areas following a series of attacks on law enforcement in Lahore.

The suspects are accused of killing three police officers—Sub-Inspector Adeel Ashiq, Head Constable Asad, and an officer in Nawan Kot—during separate incidents in the Badami Bagh and Multan Road areas. According to police reports, the suspects allegedly used a government vehicle to flee the initial crime scenes before taking refuge in a residence near River Ravi, where they reportedly held occupants hostage at gunpoint.

A joint operation involving the Lahore Police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and Elite Force led to a gun battle during which the two suspects were killed. A third suspect, identified as Tariq, managed to escape and is currently being sought by authorities, with reports suggesting he may have fled toward the Bagh area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In the wake of the attacks, investigators have also detained two police officials on suspicion of having links to the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing, with charges including murder and violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
