Police launch gender‑violence awareness drives in Leticia, Colombia and Chimalhuacán, Mexico

The Colombian National Police’s Purple Patrol organized a men‑focused sensitisation day in Leticia’s Parque Francisco de Orellana. Officers set up an information stand, shared messages promoting respect, equality and co‑responsibility, and explained available support routes for preventing gender‑based violence.

In Chimalhuacán, Mexico, local police took part in a series of training programmes on gender perspective, handling cases of violence against women and missing‑person investigations. The curriculum, coordinated with the State Women’s Secretariat and other agencies, includes a 30‑hour specialised workshop on processing violent crime scenes involving women.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen community safety, promote gender equity and improve police capacity to respond to gender‑based violence.
