Police officer accused of hitting cyclist on Route 6
A group of cyclists in San Vicente, Argentina, has denounced a police officer for allegedly striking a cyclist with a motorcycle on Provincial Route 6. The victim, identified as Cristian, reported that the officer accelerated and hit him from behind while he was training with friends.
Cristian sustained injuries to his knee, shoulder, and elbow, resulting in a sprain diagnosis. Witnesses and video footage captured the incident, which shows the cyclist being knocked to the ground, after which the officer reportedly continued on his way without offering assistance. The cyclists claim this was not an isolated incident and suggest the maneuver may have been intentional.
Legal representative Nicolás Romano stated that the cyclist was a legitimate user of the road. He noted that under Article 46 of National Traffic Law 24.449, bicycle restrictions apply only to highways and semi-highways, not conventional provincial routes. As of now, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the incident.
