The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested Police Constable Julius Cheruiyot in connection with the murder of Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu. The killing occurred on September 9, 2025, along Magadi Road, where Mbobu was reportedly targeted while driving home from work.

Ballistic examinations have confirmed that the murder weapon was Cheruiyot’s own service Ceska pistol. The arrest follows a year-long investigation by the DCI Homicide Directorate.

Authorities allege that Inspector Kenneth Sang, who is currently at large, coordinated the operation alongside Rose Mbithe. Mbithe is already in custody for the murder of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, which took place in July 2026. Investigators are examining potential links between these two separate killings.
