Police officer death in Goiás investigated as accident

The death of Zalzir Alberto de Matos, a second sergeant of the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF), is being investigated by the Civil Police of Goiás as an accident.

His body was discovered on Monday in Parque Estrela Dalva, located in Santo Antônio do Descoberto, near a vehicle that had caught fire. The Goiás Military Fire Department (CBMGO) responded to the call but reported difficulties reaching the site due to road closures caused by construction work. Upon arrival, firefighters found the victim outside the vehicle, carbonized by the flames.

Authorities have requested medical, criminal, and papillary forensics to clarify the circumstances of the fire. The PMDF has issued a note of condolence to the family and friends of the sergeant.
