Police officer detained in María Fernanda Jurado Ontón feminicide case
Juan Jonel Cóndor Jayo, a 27-year-old second sub-officer of the Peruvian National Police, has been detained following a period as a fugitive. He is under investigation for the feminicide of María Fernanda Jurado Ontón.
On the night of Wednesday, August 12, Jurado Ontón died from a gunshot wound to the head inside a room in Chilca. Following the incident, Cóndor Jayo went into hiding until early Saturday morning, August 15, when he appeared near the Divincri Huancayo.
The judiciary has ordered seven days of preliminary detention for the officer while the prosecution continues its investigation. Upon his arrest, Cóndor Jayo exercised his right to remain silent. Authorities are now proceeding with pending investigative steps, including medical, psychological, and psychiatric examinations.
