Police officer injured during scooter pursuit in Montpellier

A police officer in Montpellier sustained injuries resulting in 30 days of total incapacity for work (ITT) following a pursuit involving a scooter. On September 13, specialized field brigade officers observed a 17-year-old male interacting with a concealed bag near a vehicle in the Petit Bard neighborhood. When officers attempted to intercept the individual, the suspect fled on an electric scooter.

During the chase, the officer attempted to intercept the teenager, but a sudden movement by the suspect caused the officer to lose balance and fall. The officer suffered an open wound on his hand, as well as shoulder and foot injuries. Other officers in the vicinity successfully apprehended the suspect shortly after the incident.
