Sarıyer hospital attack: Moldovan national injures police officer

A Moldovan national, identified as Simon Y., injured a police officer during an incident at a hospital in Seyrantepe, Sarıyer. On Monday, August 24, around 21:20, the individual climbed atop a waste container in the hospital garden and began throwing stones and iron rods at police and bystanders.

Following reports that the individual might be under the influence of substances or experiencing mental instability, police and fire departments responded. Firefighters attempted to dislodge the man using pressurized water. During the intervention, as officers attempted to neutralize him, Simon Y. struck a 33-year-old officer, M. D., on the head and body with an iron rod.

The suspect was eventually apprehended after slipping on the wet ground. He faces investigations for ‘resisting a public officer’ and ‘intentional injury.’ Following legal proceedings, he was transferred to a removal center in Arnavutköy to await deportation.
