Police officer injured in Kelantan during Sultan’s convoy traffic control

A 22-year-old police officer sustained external injuries after being struck by a car while performing traffic control duties in Tumpat, Kelantan. The incident occurred at approximately 1:25 pm at the Kepulau traffic light intersection in Palekbang.

The officer was closing the road from Morak to Palekbang to facilitate a convoy for the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, who was traveling to perform Friday prayers and attend a public banquet for his 57th birthday.

According to Tumpat District Police Chief ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie, a 55-year-old woman driving a Proton Saga allegedly failed to notice the officer while conducting traffic duties. The officer was treated as an outpatient at Tumpat Hospital, while the driver was uninjured. The case is being investigated under Section 79(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with authorities seeking dashcam footage to assist the inquiry.
