Police officer kills fiancée and commits suicide in İzmir

A tragic incident occurred in the Menemen district of İzmir on October 22, 2026, involving a police officer and his fiancée. Aykut E., a police officer stationed in Hakkari, reportedly went to the residence of his fiancée, lawyer Özge P., in the Tülbentli neighborhood.

Following an argument for reasons that remain unclear, Aykut E. used his service weapon to shoot and kill Özge P. Immediately after the killing, the officer turned the weapon on himself.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find Özge P. had already passed away. Aykut E. was transported to İzmir City Hospital in critical condition. Despite intensive medical efforts and surgeries in the intensive care unit, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.
