Police officer murdered in Purísima del Rincón, Guanajuato

A 31-year-old female municipal police officer was shot and killed on Saturday morning in Purísima del Rincón, Guanajuato. The victim, identified as María Angélica, was intercepted by armed individuals while traveling by motorcycle after completing her night shift.

The attack occurred near the intersection of Las Torres Boulevard and the Libramiento Sur. Reports indicate that two to four subjects on a motorcycle approached the officer while she had stopped at a local establishment, firing multiple shots before fleeing the scene. Although paramedics transported her to a hospital in Los Pueblos del Rincón, she succumbed to her injuries.

The officer had been serving with the municipal corporation since November 2019. The State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible. This incident marks the second killing of a female police officer in the state within a single week, following a similar attack in Celaya on October 17.
