Police officer returns 10 million Guaraníes to South African citizen
A 22-year-old police officer, Ever Saucedo, returned 10 million Guaraníes found on a public street to their rightful owner in Pedro Juan Caballero, Amambay department.
While patrolling between the police headquarters and the Amambay Governor's office, Saucedo, a member of the 911 System, discovered a bundle of 100,000 Guaraní banknotes. The officer began inquiries to locate the owner, leading to the appearance of Steve Austin Theis Hauemann, a 57-year-old South African citizen working near the Governor's office.
Hauemann provided the necessary documentation to prove ownership of the funds. The formal handover of the full amount was completed under an official report at the Amambay Police Directorate. The officer's integrity was commended by both his superiors and the citizen who recovered the lost money.
