Police operations across Balkans involve arrests for corruption, drugs, and violence

Multiple law enforcement actions have taken place across the Balkans involving various criminal activities.

In Republika Srpska, five police officers were arrested during ‘Operation Terminal’ on suspicion of soliciting bribes from drivers for non-existent offenses. Transparency International BiH noted that the case highlights systemic issues regarding institutional control and the perceived lack of meaningful punishment for corruption.

In Montenegro, authorities arrested a resident of Kotor for causing serious bodily injury to a Bosnian citizen during a nightclub altercation, resulting in a skull fracture. Additionally, in Podgorica, a 51-year-old man was detained after police discovered ammunition, firearm components, and suspected cocaine during a residential search.

In Sarajevo, the ‘Black Peak’ operation led to the arrest of five individuals following the seizure of weapons, including a grenade and rifles, along with quantities of heroin, marijuana, and cocaine. Separately, two women were arrested in a Sarajevo shopping center for the suspected theft of gold and valuables from a Turkish citizen.

In Italy, a Serbian national was apprehended by financial police while transporting approximately 22 kilograms of cocaine, valued at 1.8 million euros, hidden in a modified vehicle compartment.
