Police officers in Çankırı honored for saving child with Heimlich maneuver

Police officers Fatih Gülşen and Suat Gül, members of the Çankırı Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, have been honored for saving a child's life using the Heimlich maneuver. The incident occurred at a gas station when a young child choked on a piece of candy.

Çankırı Governor Hüseyin Çakırtaş received the officers at his office to present them with certificates of achievement. During the ceremony, which was attended by Provincial Police Chief Aytekin Canıtez and Senior Colonel Serhat Demiral, the Governor emphasized the critical importance of first aid training and the ability to remain calm during emergencies. He noted that such interventions are vital in public spaces and called for regular first aid training for all public officials.
