Police officers injured in deliberate van attack in Larkhall, Scotland

Two Police Scotland officers were seriously injured on Saturday in Larkhall, Glasgow, after a white Renault Trafic van deliberately drove into them while they were on duty. The impact left both officers with severe injuries; one was taken home to recover while the other remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Police launched a manhunt for the driver, who fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male about 183 cm tall, wearing dark shorts, a grey sweatshirt and a beige baseball cap at the time of the attack. Investigators treat the incident as an attempted murder and are urging the public for information to aid the search.

Detective Gary Smillie labeled the act a “deliberate and malicious assault”. No other persons were harmed in the incident.
