Police officers injured in Mexicali fight, three suspects detained

A street altercation in the Toluca ejido of the Mexicali Valley on Sunday, June 14, escalated when family members of two women attacked municipal police officers who had arrived to intervene. Three officers, including a shift chief, sustained blows to the head, face, lips, knees and a bite on an arm; two were hospitalized. The authorities detained three suspects – Daniela, 29; Eduardo, 36; and Adrián, 31 – who were taken to a police station for assault and injury charges.

The incident prompted an urgent request for backup and highlighted tensions between residents and law‑enforcement in the border region.
