Police officers rescue father and son from sea currents in Castellammare

Two off-duty police officers, Vincenzo Staiano and Ciro Pio Ruocco, rescued a father and his 13-year-old son from strong currents in the waters of Castellammare di Stabia, specifically near the Pozzano seaside area.

The incident occurred when the boy, who is non-verbal and has high support needs due to autism, swam approximately 200 meters from the shore, entering an area designated for maritime traffic. His father, Marco, attempted to reach him but became caught in the strong currents and struggled to return to safety.

Staiano, an officer from the Arezzo police headquarters, and Ruocco, an officer from the Varese police headquarters, noticed the situation while on vacation. The two men dove into the sea and swam against the current to reach the pair. They successfully rescued both the father and the son, bringing them safely back to the shore.
