Police officers rescue two people from a garage fire in Bestwina

Two police officers from the Czechowice-Dziedzice Police Station rescued two people from a garage fire on Bialska Street in Bestwina during the night of October 23-24. The fire broke out in a garage attached to a single-family home that was being used for both storage and sleeping quarters.

Officers Rafał Michalik and Rafał Dobrowolski were the first to arrive at the scene. They first rescued a woman whose leg had become trapped while she was attempting to escape the flames and smoke. After realizing another person might still be inside, the officers re-entered the smoke-filled garage. They located a man on the floor who had suffered extensive burns to his legs and was unable to move. The officers carried him to safety just before the fire consumed the entire structure and immediately administered first aid.
