Police officers suspended in India and Pakistan over sexual assault

In Lucknow, India, Senior Sub‑Inspector Dharmveer Shahi was suspended and booked after a B.Ed student accused him of sexual exploitation, assault and threats while he was investigating her case. An FIR was filed and the matter was transferred to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cantonment, for a detailed inquiry.

In Lahore, Pakistan, the entire staff of the Ghaziabad police station – 78 personnel – was suspended after Assistant Sub‑Inspector Imran was accused of raping an intellectually disabled girl inside the station. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran ordered the suspensions, a criminal case was registered against the ASI, and a new station house officer was appointed.
