Police operations and food safety seizures reported in Catalonia

Various law enforcement agencies in Catalonia have conducted operations targeting crime and public health risks. In Sant Pere de Ribes, the Local Police and Mossos d’Esquadra launched ‘Dispositiu Turó’, a strategic plan to combat robberies and thefts. The operation focuses on the Ribes and Roquetes nuclei and the Vilanoveta industrial estate, utilizing increased patrols and municipal license plate recognition cameras to deter repeat offenders.

In Tortosa, a joint operation involving the Civil Guard, Mossos d’Esquadra, National Police, and Local Police resulted in the seizure of 2,300 kilograms of food unfit for human consumption. The inspection of a retail establishment and warehouse revealed expired products, improper storage, and a lack of required sanitary certifications for non-EU goods. Additionally, 218 cosmetic and sanitary products were seized, and one individual is under criminal investigation for alleged document falsification.

In Sabadell, the Municipal Police have integrated two new vans costing 230,000 euros to support the new Strategic Proximity Reinforcement Unit. The vehicles, which can carry seven people each, are intended for neighborhood surveillance and large-scale events. The acquisition faced political debate regarding whether the equipment was more suited for anti-riot duties rather than community policing.
