Police policy updates in Austria and Germany
In Austria, FPÖ representatives Andreas Bors and Dieter Dorner have called for the cancellation of a new duty time management system currently being trialed in the Gänserndorf district. Following visits to local police stations, the officials stated that officers expressed dissatisfaction with the new model, claiming it offers no improvements and instead increases the burden on personnel. They have urged Interior Minister Karner to halt the nationwide rollout of the system.
In Germany, the Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse conducted “Cops im Dialog” events at schools in Dreieich and Hanau. Part of the Hessian state government’s “Respect Package,” these sessions aimed to foster mutual understanding between students and law enforcement. The program focuses on breaking down prejudices, discussing police duties, and promoting respect for emergency services, including firefighters and rescue workers.
