Police pursue stolen vehicles in New South Wales and Western Australia
Two separate police pursuits involving stolen vehicles occurred in Australia.
In New South Wales, police pursued an SUV that was allegedly stolen from a residence in Dubbo. The chase moved through Wellington, covering several streets before being terminated due to safety concerns. A 16-year-old boy was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offences, including driving a stolen vehicle, dangerous driving during a police pursuit, and driving without a license. He has been granted conditional bail.
In Western Australia, a pursuit began in Perth after a Land Rover Discovery with stolen plates failed to stop for police. The chase was abandoned at a shopping centre, where the driver allegedly stole a second vehicle, a Mazda BT-50. During the subsequent pursuit, the Mazda swerved in front of a Transperth bus, causing the driver to brake heavily and resulting in minor bruising for one passenger. The driver was eventually arrested by a tactical response group after attempting to steal another car. The Mazda crashed into a brick wall after the driver exited the vehicle.
