Police raid high‑tech marijuana lab in Seropédica, Brazil

Civil police agents in Seropédica, a city in the Baixada Fluminense region of Rio de Janeiro, carried out a raid on Thursday, July 9, 2026, and dismantled a sophisticated marijuana production facility. The operation uncovered a climate‑controlled setup with continuous lighting, air‑conditioning units, specialized lamps, ten high‑end grow tents, organic substrate and coconut fibre, as well as equipment for extracting hashish and cloning genetically identical cannabis plants with high THC levels.

No arrests were reported at the time of the raid. All seized material was sent for forensic examination, and the 48th Police District (Seropédica) continues the investigation to identify those responsible for the operation.
