Police raid Papua West Daya legislative secretariat in corruption probe

On Thursday night, 30 July 2026, the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Papua West Daya Regional Police (Polda Papua Barat Daya) searched the Secretariat of the Papua West Daya Regional People's Representative Council (DPRP) in Sorong. Investigators from the Sub‑directorate of Corruption Crimes (Tipikor) entered at least 13 rooms, seizing documents as part of a probe into alleged fictitious procurement of goods and services for the 2024 fiscal year.

Police officials said the case is estimated to have caused a state loss of roughly Rp 6.5 billion. "We have conducted the raid to follow up on the investigation that has now been upgraded to a prosecution," said Iptu Ihot Tampubolon, the police lead. The seized material is being catalogued, and the investigation will continue with witness interviews while awaiting the final audit figures from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). Earlier, Kombes Pol Iwan Manurung announced that the matter had moved from preliminary investigation to full‑scale prosecution after investigators gathered evidence since January 2026.
