Police raid uncovers cannabis farm near Sopot, Bulgaria

A 30‑year‑old man from Sopot was arrested after a specialised police operation targeting drug trafficking. Officers located a small cannabis plantation on the grounds of the suspect’s villa, finding ten plants at various growth stages, an electronic weighing scale, five packets of dried marijuana and a hidden stash inside the building, which was discovered with the help of a police dog. Additional searches of the suspect’s residence uncovered three more packages, each weighing about 500 g. The man attempted to flee in a car but was stopped, and he was detained for up to 24 hours while a criminal case under article 354a of the Penal Code was opened.
