Greek police and customs seize cannabis, cocaine and other contraband in July 2026

Between 27 July and 30 July 2026 Greek police arrested 11 people in the regions of Eastern Macedonia, Thrace and Kavala, confiscating raw cannabis, cannabis oil, small quantities of cocaine and related equipment such as precision scales. The arrests involved nine Greek nationals and two foreigners, and ten separate criminal files were opened.

In the same period the Greek Customs Authority (AADE) reported extensive seizures at airports, ports and border checkpoints, including 25 kg of cannabis, 129 kg of khat, 528 items of illegal weaponry, large quantities of cigarettes, alcohol, gold coins and even exotic parrots. The customs operation also uncovered 60 gold coins, 6 gold plates weighing 190 g, and 31 013 counterfeit goods.

Separately, police in Naoussa (Western Greece) seized five packages containing a total of 4.5 g of cocaine, a precision scale, €50 in cash and two mobile phones from a man’s residence, leading to a drug‑related charge. These coordinated law‑enforcement actions highlight a broad crackdown on drug trafficking and related smuggling activities across Greece during July 2026.
