Santo Domingo police rescue child taken from Los Tres Brazos
A four-year-old boy has been rescued safe and sound in the Capotillo sector of Santo Domingo after being taken from the Los Tres Brazos neighborhood. The child was located by residents following his disappearance on a Wednesday night.
Authorities identified a 12 or 13-year-old girl as the individual responsible for taking the child. According to the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI), the teenager is believed to suffer from a mental health condition and had been living in a state of vulnerability. CONANI reported that the minor had previously escaped from various medical and residential protection facilities, including a recent unauthorized departure from a center on September 28.
The teenager was transferred to the Robert Reid Cabral Children's Hospital for hydration and psychological evaluation. Following medical care, she will be referred to the Specialized Prosecutor for Children and Adolescents. The National Police are continuing investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and whether any third parties were involved.
