La Plata man arrested for false vehicle theft report

In La Plata, Argentina, a 42-year-old man, Damián Milohnic, was detained after confessing that his report of a stolen Volkswagen Amarok was false. The vehicle was discovered submerged in the El Gato stream. Milohnic initially claimed two men had robbed him at gunpoint, but investigators found inconsistencies in his story. He eventually admitted he had allowed acquaintances to take the vehicle, who then had an accident, leading him to stage the theft. He now faces charges for making a false report and obstructing justice.

In the Putre region of Chile, Carabineros recovered a stolen truck and arrested two Bolivian nationals, aged 19 and 21, attempting to cross the border into Bolivia. Authorities noted the incident highlights the ongoing issue of stolen vehicles being trafficked across the border, prompting calls for increased international cooperation.
