Zafferana Etnea: Man arrested after electronic bracelet alarm triggers police response

A 42-year-old man has been arrested in Zafferana Etnea, Sicily, after an electronic bracelet alarm alerted the Carabinieri to his escape from house arrest. The individual was already serving home confinement for domestic abuse against his former partner.

Upon receiving the alert, officers from the Giarre Company dispatched a patrol to the man's residence. Although the man's mother claimed he had left to seek medical attention due to an illness, authorities verified that he had not reached a medical facility. During a phone attempt to contact the suspect, he provided vague directions before abruptly hanging up.

Carabinieri officers monitored the area discreetly and eventually intercepted the man as he returned to his home in a vehicle. He has been reported to the judicial authorities for the crime of evasion and has been placed under new house arrest measures.
