Police rescue boa constrictor in Riobamba

Specialized officers from the Environmental Protection Unit (UPMA) of the National Police rescued a Boa imperator in Riobamba, Ecuador. The reptile was handed over by citizens to the Pucará Community Police Unit following a request through the ECU 911 emergency line.

After securing the snake in an appropriate container, authorities transferred the specimen to the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition (MAATE). Technical specialists will conduct a veterinary assessment to check for injuries or dehydration and determine if the animal should be released into its natural habitat or moved to an authorized management center.
